January 2012 News - Date posted: January 16, 2012
Welcome to our new web site. Our goal is to provide you, our loyal customers with an ever-expanding resource for all things related to Deardorff. We will continue to update this page to provide you with the very latest news. So, keep checking back. If you have suggestions for improving this site, please send us a message using the contact tab. We’ll be making minor adjustments throughout this month. For January 2012, we have much to report.
First, we hope that you like our new web site. Browse the different tabs and you’ll find many new resources. Following in the steps of Seth Broder of www.cameraeccentric.com, we’re offering about twenty original Deardorff resouces for free viewing and download on our documents page. These are part of the living history of LF Deardorff & Sons, Inc. and we feel that it is only right to share these historical artifacts with you. No one should own them, they belong to all Deardorff users and admirers worldwide. Then, we’re also offering about twenty original Deardorff images from our archives on our gallery page. In each case, these are just a brief sampling of downloads we’ll be adding this year. There are literally hundreds of documents and images, and in time, we plan to offer them all.
Then, we are also launching our new online store under our shop tab where you may now order brand new cameras, lens boards, and many camera accessories. Notice that we have only one of our “Limited Edition V5 Deardorff 4×5 Special” cameras left. (*more on our Limited Edition cameras later…) Within the coming months, we plan to greatly expand this online store. When fully launched, you’ll be able to view images of cameras and major camera assemblies and order replacement parts by clicking on the appropriate part that you need. By the time we fully implement this, we’ll be offering close to a thousand different parts and assemblies, so be patient with us, this will take time to bring to fruition. In the meantime, we continue to offer close to 75 different Deardorff parts and accessories through our eBay Store.
And, we’d like to use this news page to provide you with an update on what’s going on in the shop each month. This month, we are still working diligently to finish production on our “2011 Limited Edition” cameras. We had planned to have them all shipped out by 12/31/2011, but like many new businesses, we’ve hit unexpected delays. None of these are insurmountable, but our best estimate now is that we’ll begin shipping these out during Feburary and should have them all delivered soon. We appreciate your patience, we’re trying to get your cameras to you as quickly as possible.
Updating other fronts, we’re also working on three 11×14 Deardorff V11’s and the first of our 12×20 Deardorff V12’s. These will also be finished within the coming weeks. They’ll feature new CNC-machined front and rear swing assemblies, and brand new CNC-machined oversized bed plates. During the year 2012, we have plans for many other exciting products. We’ll be building another “Limited Edition” run of cameras: this time a run of only ten 2012 Limited Edition 11×14’s and ten 2012 Limited Edition 12×20’s.
We’re also working on some brand new designs to share you. We’ll soon be offering 8×10 cameras with an optional hybrid front sliding panel which will accept either standard Deardorff 6×6 inch Round Corner lens boards or SINAR lens boards, without an adapter! This will also be available for retro-fit on any existing V8 Deardorff 8×10’s. And, we’re in the development stages on other new items, keep watching our news page for more updates.
If you have any questions, or just want the latest update, continue to watch this page for updates, and feel free to use our contact tab to send us a message by email any time. You can also phone us any time, we’re always glad to hear from you. And if you’re ever in the Cleveland, TN area please plan to stop by for a visit.
Thanks, as always—we appreciate your loyal support and your business.
